Politicians and other public figures have many regrettable characteristics. One of the worst is an excessive fondness for the sound of their own voices.
They would do well to take a lesson from the late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt:
“The key to a good speech? Three things. Be clear. Be brief. Be seated.”
Enough said.
